After another big win last week, Independence is 4-0 for the first time since 2016. On Friday, Independence will try to open its season with a fifth straight win for the first time in school history.

The Knights are averaging 57.5 points per game, the most of any 5A team in the Dallas area, and quarterback Braylon Braxton is completing more than 70 percent of his passes and has thrown 20 touchdown passes and only two interceptions. His 20 TD passes are more than any other Class 5A quarterback in the Dallas area.

The Independence offense is averaging 624 yards per game, more than any other 5A team in the Dallas area. The Independence defense is allowing only 234 yards per game, and has been especially stingy against the run, allowing less than 50 rushing yards per game.
